Hundreds of art lovers gathered Friday, September 9th for the Grosse Pointe Art Center's 73rd Annual Members Show. Everyone enjoyed the contemporary music and refreshments and ART, ART, ART! Over 100 pieces were on display for this yearly opportunity for the GPAC members to shine. The multi-media show reflected all types of expression: oils, pastels, watercolors, fiber, jewelry, photography, pottery, found object art and more. From the conventional to the ultra-unconventional, the artwork stole the show.

Amy DeBrunner thanked the art center's patrons, the Exhibition Committee and presented the awards. She also gave a special call-out to the dedication and hard work of the Gallery Manager, Joseph Murray. In his short time with the GPAC, Joseph has worked magic to make it a diverse and fun place to shop for that special one-of-a-kind gift. The Gallery also fulfills its mission as an outlet for local artists to offer their work for sale at affordable prices.

Bob Klink and Bob Sweeten were first time visitors to the art center and Mr. Klink stated "Great event and great art. Something for everyone."

Leslie Rentschler, who is both on the GPAC Board and the Exhibition Committee commented she was gratified that so many members participated. There were over 150 submissions. She added that despite its diversity, the show had a cohesiveness that expressed everyone's love of artistic expression.

Also opening on September 9th was a show by the Pointe Studio Ten, a group of local women artists who meet regularly to learn and share ideas related to artistic expression.

Both shows run through October 22nd.

Gallery hours are Tues - Sat, Noon - 6:00 PM.
